In the recent weeks we have been actively monitoring the latest updates about SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Based on the latest instructions from the Ministry of Health and the proposed precautionary measures, the Athens Science Festival (ASF) organizing committee announces the postponement of the event scheduled for April 1-5, 2020. The situation will be re-evaluated in the upcoming period and new dates of the festival will be announced.

STEMpowering Youth, the educational STEM program of SciCo that has benefited 12,400 students since 2017, with the support of Vodafone Foundation and the academic contribution of Ellinogermaniki Agogi, has now evolved to Generation Next, the digital platform offering free access to skill development.

For three consecutive years and five successful educational cycles, SciCo has reached every corner in Greece, familiarizing young students with exploratory thinking, encouraging their active participation in scientific and modern applications and promoting all necessary for professional development skills. The non-profil educational organisation SciCo organised for the fifth year in a row the unique festival on science and innovation, Athens Science Festival, at Technopolis City of Athens, with 22,000 visitors. Of those, 6,000 were students who were exposed to many interesting scientific activities. Maths in Motion is a two-year KA2 Erasmus+ project about how to use body movement as a tool to teach Mathematics. The final goal of the project is to create a toolkit of activities that combine music and movement as a tool to teach mathematics and explain basic mathematical concepts.

SciTEAM, the Education team of SciCo has created an innovative educational program based on the model of STEM education.

The acronym STEM is derived from the words Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, while recently the letter A was added from the word Art.

STE(A)M education is based on exploratory cooperative learning and aims to empower students with the 21st century skills. STE(A)M education is focused on problem solving techniques. Students are invited to use science, new technologies and simple materials to solve problems of their everyday lives.

The robotics lad for education is entitled “Transformers visit my school” and aims to introduce children to making and programming robots and creating a team project on robotics.

The Athens Science Festival, the yearly celebration of science and innovation comes back at the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens for the third year, between 5 and 10 April under the theme: “Evolving with science”.

SciCo closed 2015 with the great success of the Mediterranean Science Festival that debuted in Cyprus between 3 and 6 December and gathered 10.000 visitors.

The 2^nd Conference of the European Project MARCH took place on the 5^th of November 2015 in the cultural centre Podewil in Berlin and its main topic was the attractive teaching of science subjects and the innovative practices that are applied in schools in Europe.

On the 5^th of December 2015 SciCo made its first workshop in Doha, Qatar, for science communication.
