STEM IN TANZANIA

ΤHE PROGRAM "STEM IN TANZANIA" HAS STARTED WITH THE VISION TO EMPOWER STUDENTS IN TANZANIA
AND ALSO TO EQUIP THEM WITH THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS THEY NEED TO SUCCEED IN THE 21st CENTURY

Tanzania is a breathtaking country in East Africa with natural wealth and intense cultural diversity. However, it is one of the poorest countries in the world, with many of its residents living below the World Bank poverty line. Access to education in Tanzania is restricted and the poor quality of education decreases the children's prospects of a promising and productive future.

Through our STEM education program we aim to give the children in Tanzania, an opportunity to improve their learning experience and agency, empower them and lead the way to a better future! We also, aim to inspire and motivate students to pursue careers in STEM fields, which can potentially lead to greater economic opportunities and development in the country. At the same time, we assist and empower local teachers to deliver longterm high-quality STEM education.

In our two quests to Tanzania, which took place in November 2022 and August 2023, the “train-the-trainer” approach was applied to more than 50 local community teachers in the villages of Gongo, Mkange, Miono, Manda, Java and Matipwili, who at the end of the project were fully trained to support the curriculum we co-created during their training and implement it to more than 10000 students in their schools.

Some of the future goals of the project include providing the workshop to more teachers in the local community, extending the duration, involving more volunteers, developing the curriculum, and exploring solutions to address the problem of lack of electricity in local communities.
