September 20, 2024 – The Mediterranean’s most anticipated celebration of science and culture, MEDNIGHT—The Mediterranean Researchers’ Night, is set to take place on September 27th, 2024. This international event will bring together eight Mediterranean countries—Spain, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Tunisia, Turkey, Bosnia, and France—for a night dedicated to scientific discovery, cultural exchange, and public engagement. MEDNIGHT highlights the importance of science in everyday life by creating spaces where researchers and the public can meet, exchange ideas, and explore the wonders of innovation and knowledge.

As a European Project Manager you will undertake the management and monitoring of projects funded by the European Union and implemented by SciCo in collaboration with international partners and you will participate in the submission of EU funding applications.

The 5th Young Researchers at Schools International Meeting is one of the most popular activities of Mednight . In this virtual meeting, young scientists will show their research work, interacting live and answering students’ questions, bringing science closer to hundreds of young people. The non-profil educational organisation SciCo organised for the fifth year in a row the unique festival on science and innovation, Athens Science Festival, at Technopolis City of Athens, with 22,000 visitors. Of those, 6,000 were students who were exposed to many interesting scientific activities. During 6 days, the festival hosted 160 research, academic and educational organisations, 115 different interactive events, 48 labs for kids, 23 workshops, 55 speeches and 5 competitions, as well as a series of other events for visitors of all ages!

Maths in Motion is a two-year KA2 Erasmus+ project about how to use body movement as a tool to teach Mathematics. The final goal of the project is to create a toolkit of activities that combine music and movement as a tool to teach mathematics and explain basic mathematical concepts.

SciTEAM, the Education team of SciCo has created an innovative educational program based on the model of STEM education.

The acronym STEM is derived from the words Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, while recently the letter A was added from the word Art.

STE(A)M education is based on exploratory cooperative learning and aims to empower students with the 21st century skills. STE(A)M education is focused on problem solving techniques. Students are invited to use science, new technologies and simple materials to solve problems of their everyday lives.

Mind the Lab, a breakthrough initiative in bringing science to the general public, was founded by SciCo in 2016. The robotics lad for education is entitled “Transformers visit my school” and aims to introduce children to making and programming robots and creating a team project on robotics.

The Athens Science Festival, the yearly celebration of science and innovation comes back at the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens for the third year, between 5 and 10 April under the theme: “Evolving with science”.

SciCo closed 2015 with the great success of the Mediterranean Science Festival that debuted in Cyprus between 3 and 6 December and gathered 10.000 visitors.

The 2^nd Conference of the European Project MARCH took place on the 5^th of November 2015 in the cultural centre Podewil in Berlin and its main topic was the attractive teaching of science subjects and the innovative practices that are applied in schools in Europe.

On the 5^th of December 2015 SciCo made its first workshop in Doha, Qatar, for science communication.

CERN and its educational programme art@CMS included Athens Science Festival in its highlights among all its projects and programmes of the past three years 2012 – 2015.

Following the huge success of Athens Science Festival and Thessaloniki Science Festival in Greece, with an impressive number of visitors, participants and supporters, we are delighted to announce the launch of the 1st Mediterranean Science Festival, which will take place 3-6 December 2015 in Limassol, Cyprus.

Students, teachers and researchers from Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia contributed in the third international “Innovation Swap Workshop” in Sofia, Bulgaria SciCo co-organised on October 6th, 2015.

SciCo participated in the annual European celebration of science and technology – Researcher’s Night in Athens – on September 25, 2015.

The European project DELOS, where SciCo served as dissemination partner, was successfully completed last month with a final conference held in Zaragoza, Spain.
