THE WATER-MINING EXHIBITION IN CYPRUS

Do you believe there will be enough water indefinitely?

Water has been circulating on our planet for billions of years, changing forms, traveling from place to place, and interacting with countless organisms, from prehistoric beings to modern creatures. However, the ever-growing demand for water has led scientists from across Europe to collaborate in search of sustainable paths to address this escalating demand.

WATER-MINING is a research and innovation project that develops energy-efficient technologies for treating wastewater from urban and industrial areas and from desalination, whilst promoting the extraction of valuable products from the residues generated during the process.

As part of the project, an interactive exhibition has been created, which travels around Europe and invites its visitors to reflect on the disposal and management of water resources and also introduces innovative solutions proposed by Water-Mining for these challenges.

Currently, the exhibition is hosted at the Water Museum in Cyprus. At the exhibition the visitors have the opportunity to “walk from country to country” in Europe through an engaging audio tour, explore a 5 billion year old water and learn about the new bio-based raw material “Kaumera”, derived from wastewater.
