"YGEIA EN GNOSI" (HEALTH BASED ON KNOWLEDGE) IS AN EDUCATIONAL AWARENESS PROGRAM INFORMING CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS ON NUTRITION AND EXERCISE.
With this action, scientists from SciCo visited a large number of schools and informed children aged 10-14 about the value of a balanced diet and exercise.
The program included an educational theatrical performance and a digital information website. In the show, the human body, the body's substances and food ingredients came to life on stage, and the students met Mr. Pepsinis, a protein in the role of a policeman in Annoula's body, who interrogated the good Unsaturated Fat and the bad Saturated, Carbohydrate and Protein while in Babi's artery good and bad cholesterol were fighting over, which would prevail.
With plenty of humor, the action focused on raising awareness to children and adolescents about the important issues of nutrition and exercise and the way they are related to health. It was aimed at informing, in a pleasant way, about the values of a balanced diet and bad eating habits, which begin in early childhood and follow us into adulthood.
On the digital website, parents and educators could attend online seminars (webinars) with SciCo's consultant – nutritionist, while children had the opportunity to participate in an educational game and an online knowledge competition, in order to further get informed about proper diet and exercise.
The program took place in the context of health education in private and public schools in the country. Apart from Attica, it also traveled to schools in Thessaloniki, Patras, Komotini, Alexandroupolis, and Larissa.
The Health in Knowledge training program is an initiative of SciCo and was supported and co-organized by AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, which won an award for this innovative Corporate Social Responsibility program.
It was sponsored by the Ministry of Health & Social Solidarity, the Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning & Religions, the General Secretariat for Youth, the Youth Institute and the British Council.
