Fireathon

FIREATHON IS AN INITIATIVE FOR SOCIAL INNOVATION AIMED AT HELPING CITIZENS TO CREATE SOLUTIONS THAT CAN PREVENT AND/OR LIMIT THE PROBLEM OF CONFLAGRATIONS.

Those participating in Fireathon can submit ideas, help others develop their own ideas, as well as experimental models. In addition, citizens are informed by publications in various media and get inspired by this endeavor. Fireathon's goal is to develop technical solutions to detect, log and extinguish a fire, as well as to then train the general public to such practices and study their application. Each solution will be offered free of charge and will be launched on a pilot basis, with a real-time installation.

This project was created by SciCo and SciFY, two non-profit organizations actively involved in the fields of Citizen Science and Social Innovation, in response to the 2018 Attica wildfires and the disaster in Mati village. On this day, the project continues thanks to the support of Bayer Hellas' and the contribution of scientists coming from different backgrounds.
