DELOS IS A EUROPEAN INFORMATION AND PROMOTION PROGRAM OF ANEROBIC DESTRUCTION OF AGRICULTURAL WASTE.
The DELOS project ("Development of an e-learning platform for the operation and management of biogas production units"), was intended to create an electronic training platform on the management and operation of biogas plants, being a complete online training program for all those who work in biogas plants, but also for those who wanted to operate in the field.
The development and installation of biogas technologies is an alternative solution with important advantages, as it offers environmentally friendly energy and at the same time solves the growing problem of waste disposal. The purpose of the project was to raise public awareness about the environmental problem caused by the disposal of agricultural waste and, at the same time, to transfer knowledge and scientific suggestions on anaerobic digestion of agricultural waste as a possible solution to the problem.
During the first year of the project, a network of partners was created, with managers and employees in biogas plants, industrial and agricultural waste production units, public authorities and academic institutions, in Greece, Spain, and Cyprus. During the second year of its implementation, solutions and incentives were provided through training seminars of theoretical and technical training, to address the environmental problem of disposal of agricultural waste from agricultural activities (eg olive oil production, animal husbandry, dairy production goods). The training program was conducted in all 3 countries, aiming at staff training and ecological awareness, with ultimate goal the overall upgrade of the energy production sector in these countries, through the use of alternative sources.
SciCo participated in the consortium of the European project DELOS, in collaboration with partners from Greece (Green Technologies Ltd.), Spain (Aitiip Technology Center, coordinator), and Cyprus (Marketmentoro Ltd.).
The project was funded by the European Union Lifelong Learning Program (LLP).
