THE ACADEMY OF SCICO AMBASSADORS IS A PROGRAM
FOR EDUCATING YOUNG INDIVIDUALS IN SCIENCE COMMUNICATION
With the aim of personal development for participants and, consequently, creating a positive impact on society, the Academy of Ambassadors program by SciCo was initiated in 2016 and has since been training young people through seminars and practical exercises.
The program is annual and includes education for participants on science communication topics as well as soft skills. Some indicative thematic units of the seminars include:
- Science Communication Basics
- Personal Leadership
- Digital Science Communication
- Public Speaking
- Empathy-Active Listening
- Science Storytelling
- Problem Solving
- Pseudoscience
- Build Your Personal Profile
Alongside the training sessions, the Ambassadors have the opportunity to gain experience by participating in various projects of SciCo, which involve STEM Education, Event Organization and more.
Up to now, more than 120 individuals* have been trained as SciCo Ambassadors, and they often end up taking active roles within the team or pursuing careers in the broader field of science communication and STEM education.
The call for participation is announced every year around October, and the selected candidates are informed within a month. For expressing interest or obtaining further information about the program, you can send an email to info@scico.gr.
*25 of them have been employed in positions related to science communication / teaching *90 state that the program helped them develop their professional profile.
