Myrtani holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Oxford, UK and she is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Life and Health Sciences, University of Nicosia. At the same time, she is interested in Science communication and popularization and the promotion of scientific thinking. In 2011, Myrtani won the international competition in Science Communication, Famelab. Myrtani is the co-founder of SciCo Cyprus, an NGO, based in Cyprus, with the expertise in communicating scientific issues to the public aiming at bridging Science and Society. Myrtani has given a number of public speeches (TedxNicosia, World Science Forum, Athens Science Festival, Mediterranean Science Festival etc.). Since 2020, Myrtani is also a member of the Global Young Academy (GYA), an international society of young scientists, focused on Science Outreach and Science Diplomacy across the globe. She is a fan of Carl Sagan and dreams of a world inspired by the "magic of reality": Science.
