Marilena is a Mathematician with experience in teaching and designing alternative courses in both Mathematics and STEM fields. Her first contact with SciCo was when she participated at the Athens Science Festival as a volunteer, immediately afterwards she participated in SciCo Ambassador program where she met people with the same passions and interests and she created the SciTEAM i.e. the team of SciCo STEM trainers. In 2017 she started working at SciCo as an Education Manager in STEMpowering Youth program, a STEM skills development program for students that took place in 60 Greek rural areas and in 2019 the program digitized and evolved into the Generation Next platform, where she was responsible for designing the educational material, as well as the coordination and training of the participating teachers. At the same time, she worked on the development of SciCo's educational programs where she participated as a trainer and as a coordinator. Among them was the Maths in Motion program, an experiential 3-year program that teaches Maths through movement, dance and improvisation. She has worked as a professor of Mathematics and as a STEM instructor in the fields of Natural Sciences and Educational Robotics with a focus on embodiment methods, exploratory and experiential learning. She also really enjoys volunteering and she participates in Athens Science Festival every year and other events such as the TEDx Academy, she is a volunteer at the non-profit organisation Athens Makerspace since 2018 and she always pursues opportunities to be active, meet like-minded people and develop in the areas of her interest.
