INTERACTIVE ESCAPE ROOM
USA-GREECE: 200 YEARS OF INNOVATION
With extensive experience in creating Escape Rooms, SciCo has developed an interactive escape room titled "USA-Greece: 200 Years of Innovation" as part of the celebrations for the 200 years since the Greek Revolution.
Visitors were invited to explore four different rooms, each representing a specific period in modern history. The goal for the visitors was to explore the shared scientific history of the USA and Greece and "escape" by using their knowledge.
From Samuel Gridley Howe to Vasiliki Kalogera, and from Eleanor Josephine Macdonald to George Papanikolaou, the visitors learned about significant personalities who contributed to the scientific progress of both countries over the past 200 years. They also had the opportunity to learn about some of the most important historical and scientific discoveries by solving puzzles and riddles.
The "Escape Room" was hosted at the Serafio, Municipality of Athens from November 19 to December 31, 2021. The opening event, coordinated by Theo Anagnostopoulos, the general director and founder of SciCo (Science Communication), was addressed by the U.S. Ambassador to Athens, Mr. Geoffrey R. Pyatt, the president of the Greece 2021 Committee, Mrs. Gianna Angelopoulou, and the mayor of Athens, Mr. Kostas Bakoyannis.
The Deputy Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Mrs. Zetta Makri, and the president of the Athens Development and Tourism Promotion Company (EATA), Mrs. Alexia Evert, were also present at the event, along with numerous personalities from the fields of science and local government.
The U.S. Embassy in Athens funded this effort as part of the "USA-Greece: Celebrating 200 Years of Friendship" initiative, while the event took place under the auspices of the Greece 2021 Committee.
