THE PROJECT "MICROPLASTEAM – EMPOWERING YOUTH FOR MICROPLASTICS PREVENTION"
AIMS TO RAISE AWARENESS AMONG STUDENTS AND EDUCATORS
REGARDING POLLUTION FROM MICROPLASTICS THROUGH STEAM EDUCATION.
Microplastics have been identified everywhere, from seas and drinking water to air, sewage, food, and isolated environments such as Arctic ice.
The SciCo project titled "MicroplaSTEAM" is designed to help students and educators understand the significance of pollution from microplastics and encourage them to follow a path as environmentally conscious and active citizens through STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics).
The program provides schools' educators with necessary training and equipment to enable students to conduct quantitative and qualitative assessments of microplastic pollution on beaches based on scientific protocols.
Following the collection, recording, and analysis of data, the microplastics will be used to create art projects by the students, which will be exhibited at various events aimed at raising awareness among the broader public about the issue of microplastics.
The program is implemented with the support of Beyond Plastic Med - BeMed.
