NEFELI BONI-KAZANTZIDOU
CHEMIST, MSc
Nefeli grew up in Rhodes and studied Chemistry at the University of Athens. She completed her master’s degree in Molecular Biomedicine at University of Athens Medical School in 2018.
Her collaboration with SciCo started after her participation in the “second generation” of the SciCo Ambassadors program in October 2016- giving her the opportunity to combine her creativity with her love of science and its communication to the public. She was part of the Athens and Thessaly Science Festivals as an ambassador and eventually as a member of the organising team, as well as a digital manager and editor of educational and digital material for SciCo’s “Generation Next” program.
At least until 2023, she can be found in the UK, where she is undertaking a PhD degree in the Department of Biochemistry and Systems Biology of the University of Liverpool, studying cancer resistance to targeted therapies with mass spectrometry-based proteomics techniques. Outside of the lab, she is part of a choir (when pandemic allows) and sometimes remembers to play the piano. She remains a proponent of science communication and is trying to apply what she learned at SciCo to her academic career- making science more accessible to the public “from the inside”.
