LangTERRA

LANGTERRA IS A EUROPEAN SUPPORT PROGRAM
OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE INSTITUTE OF SPEECH PROCESSING.

The Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP) is part of the "Athena" Research Center and its mission is the development and promotion of Language and Cultural Technology in Greece. Its constant goal is to be a center of excellence in basic and applied research in the aforementioned scientific areas. The LangTERRA program, in which ILSP participated, supports the mobilization activities of the Institute's resources and infrastructure.

More specifically, the European project LangTERRA involved networking with fourteen (14) world-class research entities from nine (9) countries throughout Europe. Furthermore, it involved the recruitment of experienced researchers in the priority research areas, the organization of events (open days, conferences, and workshops), and the acquisition of state-of-the-art research equipment.

During its three years of operation (2012-2015) the LangTERRA project had a significant impact on the wider socio-economic environment through the active involvement of important actors and stakeholders from the public and private sector. Through the active participation of researchers from the Balkan countries, the project sought further synergies and expanded its impact to the wider Balkan area, thus providing additional opportunities for their integration and networking into the European research.

SciCo undertook the communication of the project via promotional activities, informing both the general public and people of specialized interest. Information days related to LangTERRA were presented at two Science Festivals in Athens and Thessaloniki, as well as an all-day event in Xanthi.

You can find more information related to the project by browsing the official LangTERRA website.
